A Big Thank You!

Dear all

To those of you who attended the Stanford Summer Festival, I am sure that you will all agree it was an amazing community event and was strongly supported by many, both from within the village and outside it.  Everyone seemed to enjoy both the weather and the occasion and, more importantly for the Scout Group’s Barrow of Bottles raffle, many were willing to part with their hard earned cash.

On behalf of the Group’s Executive Committee and Trustees, I have a number of thank you’s to make regarding the weekend’s events.  Firstly, may I say a HUGE thank you to Val Wyatt who arranged the beautiful ‘Animal Badges’ display in the Church on Friday evening for the Scout Group.  It was thoroughly enjoyed and admired by all.  Thank you also to the kind parents who delivered some flowers for Val to use in her display.

Another HUGE thank you must go to those parents who were generous enough to donate a bottle for the barrow (some of you donating more than 1).  I was kept sweating until the last thinking we might only have handful of bottles in a barrow full of hay, but as is often the case, everything came together in the end and we had over 60 bottles and tins of alcohol (plus a few soft’s) to raffle off!

My last HUGE, and very important, thanks must go those parents (Emma Cornish, Emma Brooks, Sue Courtney, John Cave, Sue Finney, Theresa & Carl Smith, Sylvia Thornycroft, Heidi Crook, John Baker & Emma Reed) who very kindly volunteered 20-30 minutes of their time on Sunday to help sell the raffle tickets.  You were amazing and together we managed to sell 382 tickets which raised a whopping £290.00 net for the Scout Group!  The funds for the Scout Group will go a long way to subsidizing many of the activities your children participate in throughout the year.

The winning ticket was drawn on Sunday 14th June at 5.45pm by Cub -Deanna Stamp, and witnessed by Janet Warren, and others.  It was ticket number 107, which had been bought by Ben Wetherall (20 years of age) of SITV.  Upon receiving his prize, he instantly took on the look of the proverbial ‘Cheshire Cat’ and commented that he might not remember the rest of this term at University!!

So finally, thank you again to all those parents who contributed either bottles, time or both towards this highly successful fundraiser and thank you to everyone who bought raffle ticket.  Let us hope we do just as well, if not better, next year.
